New Design
Brand new to our range for the Shimano 4 piston XTR M9120, XT M8120, and SLX M7120 disc brake systems are our CNC machined alloy finned disc brake pads. They share the same replaceable disc pad insert design as our existing finned pads which allow for repeated use of the finned backplates, but now feature our newly modified re-useable heat transfer fin for improved levels of heat dissipation and airflow. These are available in both our Race Matrix compound which a medium density compound that uses our Uberbike exclusive custom blend of friction materials, providing a strong bite response with an increase in both brake power and pad life, with a strong, progressive feel throughout the braking range, and our E-Matrix compound which is based around our hugely popular Race Matrix pad compound, but modified for even greater endurance, power and pad life, featuring a unique blend of kevlar, ceramics, heat resistant resins and friction materials, which are able to withstand both the increased weight and speeds of E-Bikes and other high endurance riding styles, where high levels of brake power and temperature stability are essential. |
Finned Pads Vs Conventional Pads
We performed multiple tests when developing the finned disc brake pad range, one of which was thermal testing which is illustrated here. On the far left image, you can see the heat dissipation fins on the pads themselves are effectively helping reduce the brake pad surface temperature on the disc brake rotor by up to 55 degrees, which results in high power, consistent brake performance and modulation without loss of performance through the brakes fading due to overheating. The far right image is using same pad compound and test conditions, but this time using conventional non finned disc brake pads. The results speak for themselves. The pads and rotor are no longer able to effectively dissipate heat, which ultimately results in brake fade and the loss of performance, plus the risk of overheating and damaging your disc brake rotors. |
Replaceable Disc Brake Pad Inserts
Unlike existing finned disc brake pad designs with integrated fins, Uberbike disc brake pad inserts are replaceable, allowing you to reuse the finned backplate time after time, significantly reducing the cost of replacing the entire finned disc brake pads. Once you have worn down the friction material, it’s simply a case of fitting new disc pad inserts into the finned backing plate. |
Heat Dissipation
The Uberbike Radiator disc rotor uses heat dissipation fins in the same way as our disc brake pads, allowing for the dissipation of heat buildup in the brake system under hard braking, and as a result cool 30% quicker than standard rotors. The reduced heat results in less brake fade and a more consistent and balanced brake performance, whilst helping extend pad life. Combining our finned disc brake pads with the Uberbike Radiator disc brake rotor will offer you the ultimate in stopping power and heat dissipation! |
