In a few simple steps, we are going to point you in the right direction, so you can be confident when selecting your new freehub type.
Lets start with the cassette. The cassette is the large cluster of gears which sits on your rear hub, and is part of the bikes groupset. This is most likely going to be either a Shimano or SRAM branded. So first of all, locate and establish the brand of your existing cassette. This information will be marked on the cassette itself.
- If you have a Shimano compatible cassette, count the number of gears that this has. If you have 8, 9, 10, or 11 gears, then you will need to select the Shimano HG (Hyperglide freehub option).
- If you have a Shimano cassette which has 12 gears, then you'll need to select the Microspline option.
- If you have a SRAM cassette with 10 gears, this also shares the same fitment type as the Shimano HG option.
- If you have a SRAM cassette with 11 and 12 gears, then select the SRAM XD freehub option.
